The American Revenue Association (ARA).
Founded in 1947, the American Revenue Association serves the needs and interests of all collectors of fiscal philately. Today's membership of about 1,400 members is the largest, oldest, and fastest-growing national or international society fulfilling this goal. The ARA publishes The American Revenuer, its award winning journal ten times per year. On occasion, the ARA publishes book-length studies, recently W.V. Comb's Third Federal Issue, 1814-1817. Other features of ARA membership are sales books and circuits plus quarterly auctions. The ARA lending library offers books, pamphlets, catalogues, and periodicals of all eras. Since 1977, the ARA holds annual conventions at an APS Champion of Champions (World Series of Philately) show site. The interests of the Society cover revenues, tax stamps, stamped paper, telegraph and railroad stamps, and general non-postal Back-of-the-Book material--U.S. and foreign, federal, state, provincial, local, municipal and private. |

International Society for Japanese Philately (ISJP).
The International Society for Japanese Philately (APS Affiliate 58) was founded in Canada in 1945. The society's goal is to promote an intelligent interest in the philately and postal history of Japan and former Japanese colonies, territories and occupied areas, including Manchoukuo, the Ryukyu Islands and foreign post offices in Japan. The society's chief endeavor is publishing, specifically:
- The magazine Japanese Philately focusing on information that is likely to
be of lasting value, in both short and long articles;
- Annual and cumulative indexes to the magazine, containing detailed and
systematic listings that permit a reader to locate quickly whatever has
appeared on any subject; and
- ISJP Monographs, each consisting of a single study too long for inclusion
in Japanese Philately.

Rossica Society for Russian Philately (RSRP).
The Rossica Society of Russian Philately (APS Affiliate 171) was founded in Yugoslavia in 1929. Today, the Society is directed from the U.S. while taking great pride in its worldwide membership. The Society's goal is to distribute information about Russian philately and to aid contacts between members. To promote this goal, the society publishes its premiere Rossica Journal twice a year in English. They also publish a biannual bulletin and a number of stand- alone publications. The society also maintains the Rossica Library, one of two great concentrations of such material in the West. If you need or have information on a host of topics, the Society will be delighted to help you. At present, the Society has three local chapters active in the U.S. These are in the Mid-West, Northern California, and the Baltimore-Washington chapter. Two of the chapters produce lively newsletters. |
