Autograph session in the Fairfax Room (lobby level). Visitors will be limited to 5 items for signatures. However, you may go to the end of the line and have 5 more items signed as long as the session lasts.

Duck Stamp Station special pictorial cancellation shown at left. Designed by the artist featuring a Canada Goose similar to the stamp design (actual size about 1 3/8" wide by 1 1/2 " tall). The McLean Post Office will apply cancels to documents with at least 32 cents postage in the Fairfax Room (lobby level). After 1 pm, this cancellation will be available in the McLean Room.

Federal Duck Stamp Office Sales Booth in the Fairfax Room (lobby level).

Items for sale include but are not limited to the following:

  • $15 1997-98 Federal Duck Stamp
  • BEP Souvenir Card (available both mint and cancelled). The cancelled card will have both the McLean June 21, 1997 Duck Stamp Station cancel PLUS the Minneapolis, MN July 19, 1997 Canada Goose Station cancel (also designed by Robert Hautman). The Minnesota Stamp Expo '97 pictorial cancellation is shown above right.
  • Artist Commemorative Card (3rd in a series)
  • First Day Ceremony Program (with NAPEX Duck Stamp Station cancel)
  • Various Licensing Products

On Sunday, the Federal Duck Stamp Office Booth will be relocated to the McLean Room (lobby level next to Fairfax Room). They will sell the same items as Saturday.

USPS CANCELLATIONS

Collectors may want to use the NAPEX special pictorial show cancel on Duck Stamp documents. The McLean Post Office will sell stamps and apply this cancel all 3 show days. The cancel is shown at right with a Friday date. The Saturday and Sunday cancel is the same except for the date. This USPS booth is #68 located in the McLean Room (lobby level next to the Fairfax Room)

NAPEX CACHET COVERS

This cover is available from NAPEX at their information Booth A (Atrium Area). Unserviced (blank) covers sell for $1.00 each. Serviced covers are also available all 3 show days for $2.00 each. These serviced covers use the NAPEX special pictorial cancel. We have left room on these covers to add a $15 1997-98 Duck Stamp and get the Duck Stamp Station cancel on Saturday. These covers are the standard 3 5/8 inch by 6 1/2 inch size. We still have NAPEX 1996 Covers for sale.

See how the artist's 249-color acrylic painting is turned into a miniature masterpiece. This exhibit shows how the BEP's handful of color stages build the final stamp design.
11-19 Panes of Federal Duck Stamps
A unique display from 1934 to 1996 by Jeanette C. Rudy
20-24 History of the Federal Duck Stamp
The PACIFIC97 exhibit of some of the most famous pieces in Duck Stamp philately. Includes all major known errors, the earliest first day duck cover, and the 1934 issue signed by J.N. "Ding" Darling, the artist of the first duck stamp. Exhibited by Jeanette C. Rudy.
25-32 Classic State and Local Fish and Game Stamps
This David Torre display includes examples of nearly all license stamps required to hunt or fish in the U.S. from 1937 through the mid-1960s.

COMPETITIVE EXHIBITS
199-204 Federal Migratory Bird Hunting Stamps
The entire "Duck" stamp series shown as plate number singles of all known plates with an example of each on license, together with many varieties. Exhibited by Charles J. Ekstrom, III.
214-228 The Resurgence of Hunting and Fishing on Indian Reservations
This Michael Jaffe exhibit focuses on stamps used by Indian Reservations from the resurgence of hunting/fishing in the late 1970s to present.
