Military Postal History Society

APS Affiliate 19

The Military Postal History Society was founded in 1937 as the War Cover Club. Original focus was on the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I. The group changed its name in 1991 as it now promotes the study of the postal aspects of all wars and military actions of all nations.

Today members' interests include soldier campaign covers, patriotics, prisoner-of-war mail, naval mail, occupation and internment covers, picture postcards of a military nature, camp cancels, field post offices, propaganda labels and leaflets, V-mail, and censored mail.

The Society publishes a quarterly journal, Military Postal History Society
Bulletin, as well as separate books such as the APO directory, and
conducts frequent mail auctions.

Dues for the calendar year are $15 for US members, $18 for Canadian membership, and $25 for other foreign members (by air mail). Inquire to: Robert T. Kinsley, 5410 Fern Loop, West Richland, WA 99353 or see them at Table F.

Society of Indo-China Philatelists

The Society of Indo-china Philatelists is an organization for collectors of Indo-china, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and related areas. The Society publishes a quarterly journal The Indo-china Philatelist and has mail-bid auctions.

The Capital Chapter is meeting at NAPEX and has information at Table F.

Membership is $15/year for residents of the US, Canada and Mexico; $20/year for other countries. Inquire: Ron Bentley, Editor / Executive Secretary 2600 North 24th Street Arlingon, VA 22207.

Mobile Post Office Society

The Mobile Post Office Society (MPOS) was founded in 1950 by a group interested in the study of United States Highway Post Offices. It soon expanded to focus on Railway Post Offices, and eventually to the enroute distribution and postmarking of mail all over the world.

The society publishes the Transit Postmark Collector the journal of MPOS which is currently in its 47th year of publication. The society also published the US Railway Post Office (RPO) Postmark Catalogue and has other information for the collector and historian with ongoing research in several areas.

Annual dues for membership in MPOS start at $18/year, inquire: Doug Clark, PO Box 427, Marstons Mills MA 02648. At NAPEX, they are at Table G and will award the Charles L. Towle award for best
exhibit in their area.

U. S. Cancellation Club

The U S Cancellation Club (USCC) was organized in 1938. The USCC is devoted to the study and publication of information about obliterators found on 19th century United States stamps.

The Club publishes the quarterly USCC NEWS, maintains a lending library of material, and has twice a year Members Mail Bid Auctions. The library contains books, journals, auctions catalogs, and back issues of the NEWS. They will give an award to the best exhibit in their area at NAPEX.

Annual dues for addresses in the United States are $US 14.00; international dues at

Italy & Colonies Study Circle

The Italy and Colonies Study Circle was founded in 1974 to promote and encourage the study of all aspects of the philately and postal history of the Italian area.

The society publishes the quarterly journal Fil-Italia, comprising the most comprehensive account of Italian area philately in the English language, plus hand-books, and quarterly auction catalogues. The society operates a library with a selection of catalogues, books and articles dealing with Italian philately together
with a photocopy service.

At NAPEX, see them at Table F and they also will be giving an award to the best Italian Area exhibit. Dues: U.S. $27; others £17.
