Philanthropy

NAPEX distributes the profits from its annual show in support of numerous philatelic organizations and initiatives. Recent grants and donations include:

  • $250 sponsorship of five $50 AAPE Youth Champion of Champions special awards (ongoing, annual)

  • $12,500 to the American Philatelic Research Library for a study carrel
     
  • $1,500 sponsorship of the Smithsonian National Postal Museum's Alphabetilately exhibit
     
  • $1,000 sponsorship of an NPM/NAPEX scholarship to Ryan Ellis for his research project “Disinfected Mail: Disease, Panic and the Post Office in Late 19th Century America” (2010)

  • $1,000 unrestricted gift to the American Philatelic Society in honor of the late Charles J. Peterson (2009)

  • $750 publication grant for The Philately of Twentieth Century Postwar Reconstruction by Stephen Luster

  • $1,000 unrestricted gift to the American Philatelic Society in honor of the late Nicholas Carter (2008)
     
  • $750 publication grant for Watermarks on Postage Stamp Paper by Louis E. Repeta
     
  • $5,000 for a tree at the American Philatelic Center, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania (June 2007)

  • $1,000 unrestricted gift to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in honor of the late W. Wilson Hulme (2007)

  • $250 unrestricted gift to the American Philatelic Society in honor of the late Milton Mitchell (October 2004)

  • $1,000 unrestricted gift to the American Philatelic Society in honor of the late Howard Schloss (June 2004)

  • $250 unrestricted gift to the American Philatelic Society (October 2002)

  • $500 unrestricted gift to the American Philatelic Society (October 2001)

  • $200 unrestricted gift to the American Philatelic Society (May 2000)
