The National Philatelic Exhibitions of Washington, D.C. elected new officers for the coming show year. This organization is a non-profit, educational, voluntary group dedicated to promoting philately in the National Capital Region. The group holds its annual general meeting at the NAPEX stamp show. At NAPEX 2002, the group reelected three Directors to new three-year terms: Thomas Lera, Falls Church, VA; Paul Magid, Washington, DC; and Otto Thamasett, Springfield, VA. They also elected one new Director, Vincent Knaus, Springfield, VA.
Following this meeting, all incumbent officers were reelected: Douglas K. Lehmann, Falls Church, VA, President; Stephen L. Shupack, Dunn Loring, VA, Vice President; Nicholas G. Carter, Bethesda, MD, Treasurer; and Howard H. Schloss, Rockville, MD, Secretary. Mr. Lehmann then appointed Mr. Shupack as the NAPEX 2003 General Chair. Mr. Shupack also announced that Committee Chairs will be finalized at the next meeting, August 24, 2002.
NAPEX 2003 will be held June 6 - June 8, 2003 at the McLean Hilton Hotel, in McLean, Virginia. Four societies will convene their annual conventions at NAPEX 2003: Postal History Society, U.S. Philatelic Classics Society, Rossica Society of Russian Philately, and the 2003 Youth Champion of Champions Competition (a first for NAPEX).
